Taking a break

I’m just back from a wonderful, relaxing holiday in Northern Ibiza.

It’s not a big island, measuring 28 miles long by 16 miles wide but we were worlds away from Privilege, Amnesia, Pacha, and all the other clubs the island is famous for.

The north of the island is beautiful and unspoilt, with sandy beaches and tiny coves, crystal clear water and amazing snorkelling.

It remains a bohemian enclave, from the original Las Dalias hippy market….

to the wonderful Benirras beach; where each Sunday the setting of the sun is accompanied by beautiful drumming.

The countryside is undeveloped with many smallholdings and farms. The place we stayed was built by the owner’s grandfather and the large garden is still planted with oranges, apricots and grapefruit trees, together with olives and carobs (the latter for the donkeys, we were told). We plucked fresh fruit for lunch and it tasted exquisite.

The house was cool and dark with cedar wood beamed ceilings that smelt divine

a resident lizard who’d lost his tail and a small oven set high up at the far end of the garden became familiar sights.

The view of the sun setting behind the hills opposite the house each night, accompanied by the sound of cicadas and supper on the terrace by candlelight was perfect.

Now that we’re back, after a good break and a lot of time to think, I’ve decided to take a break from writing a blog. I can still be found on Instagram, @sally_moonsilver

I look forward to reading the blogs I love and I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who follows, reads, likes and, especially, for the comments that have been so lovely to read.

Hoping all your dreams come true

I never realized Ibiza had such beautiful scenery. Glad you had a relaxing time. I think we were away at the same time! I’m a bit sad to hear you’re having a break from blogging, but you’ve got to do what feels best for you. I’m not on Instagram yet, but I’ll search you out once I make it over there. Take care, Sally! xxx

    1. Ibiza is beautiful, I could have stayed there a lot longer!
When you get on to Instagram, let me know and I’ll be over to you too! xxx

I’ve always fancied Ibiza but was put off by it all being a bit too hipster. I’m glad you found somewhere so lovely to relax and unwind. That beach really does look stunning (and so do you!)
I hope taking a break from your blog does you the power of good and that you’re not gone too long. I’m enjoying IG but find it easy to miss posts as there’s a lot of dross – and unlike Facebook, I can’t snooze people. xxx

    1. It’s much more hippy than hipster. There are less authentic bits; the Hippy Market was a bit inauthentic to my mind but Las Dalias, the original one, was lovely. I would recommend it.
I know what you mean about missing posts, I spoke to a girl at silversmithing not long ago, and she said she always feels she has to go back to where she left off so she doesn’t miss anything! wtf, that’s obsessive! I don’t do Facebook, so can’t compare, I enjoy IG but must say I don’t take it seriously, life’s too short! xxx

What a marvelous trip, Sally! It’s such a relief to get away from life like this and enjoy other areas!!
I followed you on Instagram, and hope to see you there!!

    1. It was lovely, I’m missing swimming in the sea, the pool doesn’t cut it!
I saw you over on IG and followed too. xxx
