I checked my email inbox this morning and saw an advert for zombie skin. I was momentarily perplexed, not a great advert for moisturiser I thought, until I remembered it’s Halloween tomorrow.
Time to do the Time Warp again.. it’s just a jump to the left, and then a step to the right…
I haven’t got my pumpkin yet but I will. I carve one every year and get sweets in for the passing trick or treaters in their wonderful costumes.
I love it…
Last year’s photos I’m afraid, I need to get going and get one done today!
Can’t have Halloween without spiders.
I don’t love them, I did a thing at London zoo once. It was called the ‘friendly spider programme’ and covered all things arachnid. I was going to a country with big ones and thought I should prepare myself. I ended up by holding a tarantula (bottom photo). The weird thing was, it was less scary than the ones you get in the bath!
Just shows that mind over matter can work, I never thought I’d happily allow a tarantula to sit on my palm. It felt furry like a mouse.
Any way, back to the season…
So, if October is, for me, synonymous with Halloween its also linked with orange, that gorgeous, uplifting colour and by association with falling leaves…end of summer…start of winter.
A step too far maybe? A bit to go before winter? We did have frost for the first time this morning though.
I took this photo of Ziggy on his walk the other day, I was admiring the carpet of leaves and it was a glorious sunny day.
It’s been a lovely colourful Autumn and the weather has been better than summer for some days.
A new season and a new (or renewed) enterprise for me
I’ve been busy over the past week. I used to have a website where I sold handmade and vintage jewellery and accessories, I also did fairs. I stopped a few years ago because of the job I was doing, I didn’t have enough time or energy.
After spending this year trying different things out, I finally decided to start again. In a smaller way than before, no fairs and no pressure.
I had forgotten how much effort is required to take half decent photos, upload them and then write descriptions of everything! Consequently, at the rate I’m going I may have a couple of dozen done by the end of the year, lol!

Glad to hear that you are getting back into the crafting and selling again. ETSY? I will admit that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. We just had the family party this weekend. i am now cleaning up after the fact and trying to get some kind of post out today about it because I didn’t have time to work on a post last week because of getting ready for the kids to come. We had our first freeze which is a lot of work too, getting plants and whatnot in.

I would never, EVER have a spider on my hand. I think that you were very brave. They are terrifying. Gorgeous earrings. Do you have a website still? I used to sell hand-made stuff too and got very depressed at craft fairs. People can be very rude and a bit cheeky with prices. Have a fabulous Hallow’een. Xx

I took down my website, I was terrible at keeping up with it. I know what you mean about craft fairs I’m doing it on Etsy this time, hopefully easier.

Vintage and hand-made corsetry. I used to take commissions but gave up as people would ask you to copy £10k wedding gowns and moan about paying £200. Not worth the hassle. I do miss it though. Xx

I love that 1986 photo of Philip! Would love to see this year’s pumpkin. I’m not really into Halloween and trick or treating has only been introduced here since a couple of years, so we only get a handful of callers, if any. How brave of you to hold that tarantula! Back in the good old 80s, my boyfriend had a pet tarantula. Still giving me the shivers when I think about it. I applaud your decision to take up selling your jewellery again. Please let us know what website you’ll be on. I love how you displayed the earrings, but I’m hearing you on the amount of work making decent photographs is. Oh, and thanks for the earworm: I’ve definitely been doing the Time Warp! xxx

I just finished carving my pumpkin, not too scary, there’s a lot of young children who call.
I could never have a pet spider, I think I would have had one eye on it all the time if I’d been you, not a recipe for a success!!
I’m using Etsy. At the moment I’m just setting it all up. Hopefully I’ll get quicker!
What is it about the time warp, I just can’t help jumping left and right as I sing, hands on hips and all.

You and your pumpkin look fab, too. Spider handling?! No way. the thought breaks me out in a cold sweat.
I’ve never been into Hallowe’en although I’m looking forward to the pumpkins being reduced to clear on the market on Wednesday – I love pumpkin soup and pumpkin dhal.

It took me ages to find a pumpkin, everywhere had sold out. That’s never happened before. I ended up in Tesco with one that had smashed ( a real smashing pumpkin!). It was the last one so I asked if I could have it and was told I could have a reduction. I said I’d give them 10p and ended up with a topless pumpkin. I just artfully trimed it!
